After an over-enthusiastic and slightly painful cleaning session, it turns out that an arthritic shoulder, disintegrating cartilage and, in between them, a trapped tendon, was causing incredible pain and lack of movement in my right shoulder.  A visit to the doc sent me for a radio (x-ray) which is where I found out about the above.  I wanted another option besides a cortisone injection or surgery and was advised to seek an osteopath.

Now I know Kinésithérapie (physio) very well for other ailments but this was my first trip to an osteo.  Would it hurt?  Would it work?  I found the answer to both these questions was yes.  Having put me in all sorts of positions – ma bit like two cobras wrapped around each other, he carefully manipulated parts that even the best beer couldn’t reach!  Twisting my body in places that I didn’t know would twist, I was told to exhale as he jerked me about, my body emitting a series of “cracks” and a fleeting pain each time.  Then I was given a set of exercises to complete and sent on my way.

How did I feel?  Lighter, in less pain and confident that he knew what he was doing and it would work.  Four days later I can now sit at the pc although the (really) good news is that, for the rest of my life, I have been told not to iron, garden or lift heavy things – at least not for more than 20 minutes at a time.  Yes sir!
